TIGR2ESS

TIGR2ESS is a multi-stakeholder project that aims to develop and strengthen alliances across a carefully selected network of UK and Indian experts, to build a collaborative, long-term research partnership in sustainable agriculture that will set India on the path to a second Green Revolution. This project is funded by the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF), UK and has been awarded to Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) by Cambridge University, UK as one of its partners in India. The time period of the project is from 2018 through 2021.
Under the project, KISS is involved in research activities on various aspects related to indigenous food and nutrition security and livelihood in Koraput and Kandhamal districts of Odisha. It is involved in the flagship project FP6 – Impacting Wellbeing in Rural and Urban Communities (FP6a Education Food, Nutrition and Empowerment (EFNE) and FP6b – Education, Empowerment and Entrepreneurship leading to improved Human Nutrition).

Activities under FP6a- Nutrition, are being undertaken through research work in Koraput District of Odisha. It aims to understand food consumption practices and nutrition outcomes across socio-demographic and agro-ecological contexts. Survey related to FP6a has been completed and analysis of the findings is in progress. The activities under FP6b is to evaluate crop choice of farmers in a community and to assess the role of markets in enhancing agriculture income in Kandhamal District of Odisha.

Objective: To understand food practices and nutrition outcomes across socio-demographic and agro-ecological contexts, that will help to develop knowledge and practices taking care of health and nutrition aspects.
