At KISS, efforts are made to provide comprehensive education to the ST children who generally enrol in formative years. World class infrastructure supported by quality teachers and a touch of indigenous control on the state board curriculum keeps the 70 student interested in academics. Apart from core studies, there are avenues like sports and vocational training. The teacher Student ratio at KISS is 1:30 as per the state norms. KISS addresses poverty by providing opportunities to tribal children to become self sufficient thereby reducing transmission of poverty to the next generation. The residential schools in the indigenous pockets lack adequate infrastructure, face severe bottlenecks of teacher absenteeism, no toilets in the school, lack of an adequate number of female teachers to inspire girls to study. They don’t have the basic amenities in spite of all constitutional promises. KISS addresses these anomalies. Higher education at KISS also has tribal based innovative courses on tribal language, Indology, law, eco-spiritualism, linguistics and culture. Over the last many years, KISS has been posting cent percent results. The pass percentage has been higher in 10th and 12th Board examinations conducted by CHSE, Odisha where the state average hovers around 70%.
