Climate Crisis

The effects of climate change are becoming more and more visible across the planet and the poorest communities are bearing the brunt of this crisis. Collective action across all levels of society is the need of the hour. The KISS model practices and encourages taking a sustainable approach to daily life.

The campuses are built in a way that uses renewable infrastructure wherever possible. A steam-powered Mega Kitchen feeds thousands of children every day. The institutes use grid-connected solar panels to generate electricity. Rainwater harvesting has been adopted to collect, filter and reuse rainwater. Solar rooftop water heaters have been installed to heat water that is used in the university.

The foundation has installed sewage treatment plants to treat waste before disposal. Food waste is converted to biogas which is then used to prepare steam for cooking. The slurry collected from biogas is converted into manure for gardening. The institution has taken an active approach to practice the ‘Recycle, Reuse and Reduce’ mantra in a bid to heal the planet.
