Er. Suman Kujur

Asst. Manager, Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited, Odisha

“The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking for it. Don’t settle complacently.”

Born on 11 July, 1993, at Panchakhandasahi, a remote village in Sambalpur, Er. Kujur had an eventful educational journey that began from G.C. High School and ended at KISS, with a B.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering. He landed a technical job as an engineer at OPTCL in the position of Assistant Manager. He belongs to a poor Oram tribal family, with educated but badly-off parents barely maintaining a family of seven members with a meager income from agriculture. He began his student career at KISS at the intermediate level and continued his technical education at KIIT. His career graph rose with the humane and academic support from KISS. This has been acknowledged by him with glowing praise for this institution.

To be an IAS officer was my dream. KISS is the bridge that holds itself secure for me to cross it and reach my goals in life, and become what I am today.  While a student, I never missed home because the teachers I had were very supportive throughout my academic journey inside KISS and even outside. I also made some good friends at KISS. I was a studious guy, and I came here to do science. So, I was engaged with the curriculum, our classes and Hostel Life. I just want to say “thank you” to all my teachers and mentors at KISS for being supportive throughout my career. They are doing best in their field.  I just thank God that there is KISS, the institute for us, the Tribal students. Not many institutes like KISS could one find. As an institution it is doing tremendous work in helping the poverty-stricken and socially excluded tribal people not only from different corners of Odisha, but also from different states of India. KISS has been ranked 189 in the prestigious 2019 top 500 NGOs of the World, published by NGO Advisor, and I could not agree more.

I am connected to my roots – not much, though. But surely I will do something for my community. Education is the area where there radical changes are needed to be made; I would in fact like to contribute in that sector.

My message as a Brand Ambassador for the KISS students and alumni is: The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking for it. Don’t settle down complacently.
