Skill Development

Vocational education and skill development are an integral part of the curriculum at KISS. Along with formal education, it plays an important role in the empowerment of tribal students. Each student is imparted with vocational training in one of the 50 trades offered at the institute as per their talent and interest. Obtaining occupational skills help tribal students develop into successful entrepreneurs or become fit for corporate work life.

The foundation offers vocational training in diverse fields such as tailoring, appliqué work, food processing, chemical production, animal husbandry, pisciculture among others. Entrepreneurship skill training is also provided with the support of the British Council and UNDP. State-of-the-art computer labs, library and internet facilities help students learn more about their topics of interest.

The ‘earn while they learn’ initiative introduced by the foundation provides an added incentive to the students. Products made by students during training meet the demand of the institute as well as the KIIT group of institutions. Proceeds of the products created during vocational training are distributed to the students. This enables them to ‘earn while they learn’ and motivates them to up-skill.
