Shri Achyuta Samanta, the founder mentor of globally acclaimed KIIT university resolved to engineer a process of unprecedented change mainstreaming education as the most strategic gift for the tribal children and their families. Kalinga Institute of Social Science (KISS) owes its genesis and growth to this transformational mission and vision. Undaunted by constraints and challenges, KISS reached out to poorest of the poor and destitute tribal families across all the thirty districts inside and outside of the state. This unique dedication and action for tribal education has no parallel in the World in terms of scale and success. Breaking the cycle of poverty requires a place and kiss is the place of poverty breaking house with just the right combination of people, plans and programs. KISS now runs in full strength with more than 25000 tribal children on rolls imbibing a shared vision of creativity, achievement and empowerment. One can see sparking smiles on everyone’s face wherever you meet them- in classroom, playground or hostel, signalling the chain of positive hope and abundant aspirations. They have made KISS proud by earning laurels in national and international forums through academic excellence and spectacular achievements in sports and other competitions. KISS too acknowledges them for making this change engineering an inspiring success!
The place is a paradise answering the dreams of 25000 tribal children for a glorious career and secured future. We present below what we captured from the interactions with parents when they attended annual parents meet at KISS on 2017
