KISS FOUNDATION UK, England and Wales, registered with charity number-1144046 is set up with a vision of educating and empowering the poor marginalized section of society who do not get square meal a day. It will support Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) which provides education to indigenous children with food, education, health facilities, sports free of cost from Class 1 to Post-Graduation & professional courses. The charity will broadly involve in education/training, the prevention or relief of poverty and will help children and youth. It will operate to make grants to organisations and provide advocacy/advice/information.
Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India is the largest institution of the world for the indigenous children. KISS has been working relentlessly for the upliftment of tribals and empowering them through education. At present 30,000 indigenous children here are provided with food, accommodation, healthcare absolutely free to pursue their education from Kindergarten to Post-Graduation. They are prepared here to be the change agents and through their education and training they become India’s quality human resources. Earlier the indigenous children were lured by the ultras and with a few thousand rupees their parents too used to send them to join the disruptive forces. KISS has been able to stop this social menace to a great extent. Several schemes like ‘earn while you learn’, jobs after completion of education, trainings for sustainable livelihood have helped these indigenous youth not to become easy prey of the disruptive forces. Several boys and girls from KISS have represented India in various national and international sports competition(s) and brought laurels to the state and India. World class bodies like UNFPA, UNICEF, UNESCO, US Department of State, British Council, Australian Government, Bernard van Leer Foundation have been associated with the KISS. KISS is also setting up KISS sister branches in different parts of the state and of country for the underprivileged children.
