KISS’s Effort to Eradicate Poverty Praiseworthy: Morule

 "Eradication of poverty through education is a noble cause, which is done by KISS under the leadership of its founder, Dr. A. Samanta. It is quite praiseworthy for the society", said Mr. France Morule, South African High Commissioner to india. During his visit to Odisha, he visited KIIT & KISS on 24th September. He visited all the campuses of KIIT group of institutions. Mr. Morule also visited the largest tribal institution of the globe, Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) and spent a couple of hours with the tribal students. Expressing his happiness he said, “The population of Odisha is approximately equal to the population of South Africa. I will try to adopt the KISS model in South Africa for development of Education. He thanked Dr. Samanta for his continuous efforts towards creating such a noble institution. Among others Mr. Stefanus Botes, Minister Counsellor (Economic), S. C. Pradhan, Senior Economic Advisor and Mr. S. Pillay, First Secretary (Political) accompanied Mr. Morule.

US Fulbright Scholar Joins KISS

Renowned Professor in Anthropology, Christine Finnan has joined Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) for doing extensive research on the institute and its activities. She arrived in Bhubaneswar for this purpose with her lawyer husband George. Having passed Anthropology from Stanford University of USA and being a professor by occupation, Finnan will be here in KISS for more than one year to complete her research work. As the US Government has acknowledged KISS as a successful model school, it has been possible on the part of Finnan to come here.

The English Access Micro-scholarship Programme is being run in KISS for the last 5 years by the US Government. With respect to this programme, the US Government invites at least 5 to 6 students and teachers to visit America every year. Putting confidence on the success of English Access Micro Scholarship Programme, the US Govt. has delegated Finnan to KISS for research. Expressing his happiness on this, Founder of KIIT and KISS, Dr. Achyuta Samanta said US accreditation to KISS and delegating a Fulbright scholar here for research is a matter of great pride for Odisha. 

The Fulbright Program is highly competitive, merit-based grants for international educational exchange for students, scholars, teachers, professionals, scientists and artists, founded by United States Senator J. William Fulbright in 1946. Under the Fulbright Program, competitively selected U.S. citizens may become eligible for scholarships to study, conduct research, or exercise their talents abroad; and citizens of other countries may qualify to do the same in the United States. The Fulbright Program is one of the most prestigious awards programs worldwide, operating in over 155 countries. Fifty-three Fulbright alumni have won Nobel Prizes.

It can be mentioned that Czech Republic’s High Commissioner to India, His Excellency Mr. Miloslav Stasek visited KISS today with 8-member business delegation. He expressed happiness over the inclusion of KISS students in social mainstream, providing them advanced yet free education with wholesome development.

KISS Judo players bagged 50 medals in the State Level Judo Championship 2014 & 15

Judo players of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) bagged as many as 50 medals which include 20 gold, 12 Sliver & 18 Bronze in the State Judo Championship 2014-15 held at Nuagam, Asska, Ganjam from 30th to 31st Aug 14. 29nos girls & 19nos boy judo players of KISS were participated in the above championship in the Sub-Junior, Youth, Junior & Senior category. In this tournament 13 Sub-Junior players have been selected to participate in the National Sub-Junior  judo Championship scheduled to be held at Chennai, Tamilnadu from 5th to 10th Oct 2014  & six Youth & Junior Players have been selected to participate in the National youth & Junior judo Championship will be held at Meghalaya. One girl has been selected to participate in the National Senior Judo Championship will be held at Chandigarh.

The players got gold medal in Sub-Junior, Youth, Junior & Senior Category & Selected for National Participation areSubunide Majhi, Sabyasini Sabar, Mamini Majhi, Sangita Miniaka, Phulamani Hansdah, Jasmita Nayak, Tanuja Chhatria, Biswasini Nayak, Mukta Jani, Rasmita Nayak, Malati Marndi, Sankar Majhi, Chandramani Pradhan, Bikram Mundal, Jayanta Murmu, and Puspa Kemprai.
