KISS Boy Selected in Indian Rugby Team

Muna Murmu, a +3 Arts student of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), has once again been selected to attend the training camp for the Indian National Rugby Team and represent the country at the prestigious 2nd ranking Tournament of Asian Sevens Series in Bangkok, Thailand from 21st to 22nd September 2013 and the 3rd ranking Tournament of Asian Sevens Series in Mumbai from 12th to 13th October, 2013. These tournaments will also double as the Qualifier for the 2014 Asian Games in Korea.

The National Men’s Training Camp for the Thailand tournament is currently being conducted at the DDA Sports Complex in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. The team is scheduled to travel to Thailand on 19th September and return back to India on 24th September, 2013.

Upon returning the team will once again join the training camp for the Mumbai tournament from 25th September to 10th October, 2013. Muna has been a key member of the National squad since the last year having represented the Indian National Team at the International level. 

KISS Boy Selected for Youth World Archery Championship

Ranjit Naik of KISS has been selected for Youth World Archery Championship to will be held in CHINA in the month of October 2013. The selection camp was recently concluded at Army Sports Institute, Pune, Maharashtra from 1st to 3rd September 2013. Two boys from Odisha Ranjit Naik of KISS & Raj Kumar Naik of SAI HALL were provisionally selected for the camp, where Ranjit enter in to the team in final selection. Ranjit scored 21 points and placed in 3rd rank in sub-junior recurve boys. Ranjit is a +2 first year Arts students and he is from Jadabani of Mayurbhanj ditstrict.

There was a preparation training camp for Odisha Archers organizing by KIIT & KISS for India Archery team. The training camp was scheduled from 25th Aug to 29th Aug 13 at KISS by former Indian Archery Coach Mr. Chhe Hongi of South Korea (Coached India Archery team for Athens Olympic) in presence of Rajesh Hansdak, Archery Coach of KISS & Tapan Murmu, Archery Coach of SAI HALL.  

KISS Students Shine in State Judo Championship

As many as 19 students of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) bagged Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in the State-level Judo Championship for Senior & Cadet Boys & Girls, Men & Women held at Bira Surendra Sai Stadium, Sambalpur from 31st Aug to 1st Sept 2013. Altogether 35 students from the institute had taken part. 

In youth girls section, KISS students, Mukta Jani (40 kg) and Rasmita Nayak (48 kg) won Gold medals; Tanuja Chhatria (44 kg) won Silver medal and Bispasini Nayak (40 kg), Gouri Biswal (40 kg), Malati Marandi (44 kg) and Rita Soren (40 kg) won Bronze medals. Similarly, in youth boys section, Chhabilal Majhi (50 kg), Megharay Tudu (55 kg) and Ghasinath Pradhan (60 kg) won Bronze medals.

In junior girls section, Puspa Kemprai (63 kg) won Gold medal, while Surajgyan Pradhan (55 kg) and Pitha Hembram (55 kg) won the Bronze medals in junior boys section.

In senior men section, Nilamani Hafila (60 kg) and Pitha Hembram (60 kg) won Bronze medals, while Gourimani Murmu (48 kg) and Laxmi Nayak (63 kg) won Silver medals in senior women section. Smita Chattar (52 kg) and Subhadra Saralia (57 kg) won Bronze medals.
