KISS girls in Indian Women Rugby Team

Two girls of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) have been selected in the INDIA WOMEN RUGBY TEAM to participate in the Asian Women Rugby Tournament and qualifying tournament for Women Rugby World Cup - 2013.

Miss. Bhagyalaxmi Barik (MCA), Miss. Mirarani Hembram (+2 1st year Arts), Miss. Sitamani Hembram, (+2 2nd year Arts) and Miss. Sanjukta Munda (+2 1st year Arts) had been selected earlier for the Core Probable India Women Rugby team  and attended the National  camp from 19th September to 5th October 2012 held at Balewadi Sports Complex, Balewadi, Pune.

Bhagyalaxmi Barik & Mirarani Hembram were finally selected in the INDIA WOMEN RUGBY TEAM to participate in the Asian Women Rugby Tournament and qualifying tournament for Women Rugby World Cup - 2013.

Among the participating countries are India, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, Japan, Fiji, Thailand, South Korea, Srilanka, UAE, Malaysia, Singapore, Taipei, Kazakhstan and Iran.

15th Bhagwan Mahaveer Award for KISS Founder

The 15th Bhagwan Mahaveer Award was conferred on Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KISS on 10th October 2012. He received the award from Dr. K. Rosaiah, His Excellency the Governor of Tamil Nadu at a glittering ceremony held at Chinmaya Heritage Centre, Chennai in the presence of more than one thousand delegates. This prestigious National award has been instituted by Bhagawan Mahaveer Foundation.

The 15th annual awards which carry a cash price of Rs 10 lakh, a citation and a memento each, were decided after processing over 260 nominations by a jury headed by former Chief Justice of India M N Venkatachaliah. Mahaveer Award is a national award and its past recipients include eminent personalities like Aung San Suu Kyi of Myanmar (2012), Shri Anna Hazare (1997), Dr. Prakash Murlidar Amte and Dr. Mandakini Prakash (1998).
