‘RATHAYATRA’ celebrated at Shrivani Khetra, KISS

The world famous auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra was celebrated at Shrivani khetra of KISS on 29th June 2014 amid religious fervor and gaiety. More than 30 thousand devotees participated in pulling the three decorated chariots of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra being carried on three colourful wooden chariots, festooned with flowers, appliqué and mural paintings.

The Pahandi and other rituals like Mangala Arati, Mailama,Tadapalagi, Rosha Homa, Abakasha, Surya Puja, Chariots inauguration etc followed by procession of deities from temple sanctum to the chariots began in the morning as per the ethics and rituals of Mahaprabhu Shri Jagganath Temple of Shri Khetra, Puri. Thousands of devotees gathered to pull the three chariots in the afternoon after Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT and KISS performed the holy ritual of cherapahanra, the ceremonial sweeping of the Chariots. The special feature of Ghosayatra here is that, Devadalan, the chariot of Goddess Subhadra was pulled by only females.

Mankadia Primitive Tribe girl passes for the first time

Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) has posted cent percent result in Science, Commerce and Arts streams for the 6th year in a row in +2 Examinations conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha. This year, More than 85% students passed in Science, while in Arts students achieved 95% and Commerce streams achieved 98% result. A large number of students in KISS passed in 1st and 2nd divisions, according to the sources. It is the matter of pride for the state and the entire tribal community that, a girl Malati Mankadia from Mankadia Primitive tribal community   has passed the +2 exam successfully for the first time in the state.

 As many as 110 students have passed in first division. Among which 21 are from Primitive tribal community. It is encouraging that students from primitive tribal group like Kharia, Saura, Kutia Kondh, Mankadia, Jitai, Juanga and Bonda have passed in Science, Commerce and Arts streams.

 It is a rare feat to educate and groom tribal students from remote areas of the State and enable them to achieve cent percent result every year, opined intellectuals.

  Expressing satisfaction over the result, Dr. A. Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS said that continued success of KISS students year after year has been possible only due to blessings of God, continuous and combined effort of teachers, staff, Principal and Chief Executive Officer of KISS.
