The Project on 'Ground Water for Emergency Situations' (GWES) is a part of the activities of the International Hydrological Programme (IHP) of UNESCO. The state of Odisha in general and the coastal regions in particular are more vulnerable to climate-induced natural hazards such as drought, erratic monsoons, sea level rise, heat waves and cyclonic storms. The overall development and implementation of this pilot project is under the patronship of Hon'ble Chief Minister of Odisha and KISS has been identified as the lead coordination agency for this project.
